The shortage of doctors/providers in rural areas (shortage of clinics in these areas too) is profound. Shortages are even worse for specialists and sub-specialty care in these settings. Many Medicare patients require complex, specialty care in addition to well managed primary care for chronic conditions.

Throughout the Great Depression and the Second World War, birthrates in the United States remained fairly low. With that growth and economic confidence came a post war baby boom in the United States.

On February 14, 2024, HHS-OCR, issued two reports to Congress on Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) compliance and enforcement. One on HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rule Compliance, the other on Breaches of Unsecured Protected Health Information.

Having the data integrated is helpful, but does not create any important data flows or streamline any data communication or operations. Remote care management is much more than the EHR.

On November 2, 2023, CMS released its 2024 Final Physician Fee Schedule on policies related to remote care management. CMS continues to advance the ability of RPM and RTM services to drive revenue and improve the patient care experience. The 2024 Final Rule addresses billing scenarios and requests for clarifications on the appropriate use of these remote monitoring codes, and clarifies CMS’ position on how it interprets certain requirements for these services.

We could not reach her primary care team for days, and could not get anyone to make referrals, advocate or communicate with her doctor. Throughout the entire experience, I kept thinking if the practice had had robust remote patient programs in any way, this would not have been such an awful, dangerous experience - and I would not have felt complete disillusionment with the healthcare system - and the care she was unable to receive.

Remote care allows providers to have a more holistic understanding of patients - without any additional work - even when not seeing them at the office.

Our EHR integration ecosystem ensures that each client’s customized system and dashboard keep data centralized and protected, and nothing is ever shared or reported manually. Many other remote care management companies ask clients to create user access so the company can do the work and create these programs. This is very risky and creates a highly insecure data situation. At Medsien we never request user access for us to access the EHR.
